NELSON PERRIE & NOTTINGHAM
Class C/CC 30 mi at 10:30 AM from North Keys Community Park
A scenic tour in the Rural Tier, with a rest stop at the Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary and 1555' of climbing in 30.2 miles: long enough and interesting enough for a good ride, but still short enough to get to Sherwood's Great Allegheny Passage Tour planning session at 2PM at the New York Deli. If you're running slow, there's an easy shortcut that will cut off 5 miles, bringing the total distance down to just under 25 miles, ensuring you'll make the meeting on time. And of course, even if you aren't going to the planning session this is still a great ride for a February Saturday. Route map & GPS files are here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31815139 and the cue sheet is in the Cloud: http://bit.ly/2RQeWBD BYOQ (Bring Your Own Cue Sheet) Printed copies available by prior arrangement. Route plan and weather forecast here: http://bit.ly/30VCCIV (Currently predicting cloudy conditions, 38-47 degrees with 3-6 mph winds.)
Directions: From the Beltway (Rt495/95) take the Branch Ave South exit onto Branch Ave (Rt5). Continue south into Brandywine MD. From Route 5 make a left turn onto Brandywine RD. Go past the firehouse, and make a left turn onto North Keys Road. Travel for approximately 1.5 miles and make a left turn into the North Keys Community Park. [11806 North Keys Rd, Brandywine, MD 20613]

WHITE MARSH - SOTTERLEY
Class AA/A 54 mi at 10:00 AM from White Marsh Elementary School
Sunday is supposed to be fairly nice for a winter day so let's get out and ride! Riding in the AA category is perhaps more aspirational than actual for me given the amount of riding I have been doing. Given that and depending on who shows up we may average an A or low AA pace.
The ride can be easily shortcut at the end cutting off 5 to 10 miles for anyone who feels 54 miles is a little too much for late winter.
This a nice ride in Charles and St. Mary's counties from the club route library at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27033978
I
will also bring some cue sheets.
Directions: From Beltway, exit onto Rt 5 south. Take Rt 5 south to Rt 236 (just past intersection with Rt 6). Turn right on Rt 236 and proceed about 0.2 to school. [map to start]

MUSIC LOVERS DELIGHT
Class C 15 mi at 12:00 PM from Columbia Island Marina
Ride to the ongoing Marine Band Chamber Music Series at the Marine Band annex in SE D.C.. I've been attending this series for a number of years, and it is the best of its kind in the region. You will need a photo ID to get in and a lock for on street lock up, or you can choose to leave bicycle in the secure auto parking area under the freeway adjacent to the performance venue. ( Locked up and guarded by the Marines.) The ride is flat and we will ride the SW and SE street grid and do a loop on the Anacostia Trail. The concert starts at 2:00, so we should get there with ample time to lock up, go through security(don't forget photo ID) and peruse the program before the performance. The concert will last around one hour, should be back to the start around 4:00. There is no lunch break, so take along a snack.
Directions: Just off Mt Vernon Prkwy, north of 14th St Bridge. If driving by car, you must approach from the north in the SOUTHBOUND LANE of MV prkwy. (Enter south parkway from Rt 50 or other north entry) The exit for marina is clearly marked just before 14th Street bridge. If driving from the South, a suggestion would be to exit Northbound parkway at the Washington Sailing Marina, park and ride bicycle to the start on the adjacent Mt Vernon Trail (exit trail at Navy-Merchant Marine Memorial just north of 14th St bridge), but please allow enough time, (15-20 minutes).
