SKYMASS - FRONT ROYAL START
Class A/AA 81 mi at 8:45 AM from Eastham Park
Looking for some pole to join me this weekend on a ride in the mountains. SkyMass is an approximately 81 mile ride with 6,800+' elevation gain. The ride starts from the North entrance of Skyline Drive in Front Royal and heads south to Rt. 211, down into Luray, up & over Massanutten, then back toward Front Royal along Fort Valley Rd. Because of the elevation gained and distance, this is generally a ride at your own pace ride with the group splitting up over the route. There are, however, a number of opportunities to regroup. The ride leader will make a best effort to ensure all riders return to the start. B riders are welcome if someone volunteers to lead.
Riders should be prepared to be self-sufficient as the group will likely break up. There are several places to stop and get water and/or food (although they may not be on the cue sheet) including: Dickey Ridge (water/bathrooms) @ appx. mile 5.5; Elk Wallow which is generally a good place to regroup (food/water/bathroom) @ appx. mile 25; Thornton Gap (water/bathroom) @ appx. mile 32.3; Shell Station and several convenience stores( Luray-food/water/bathroom?) @ appx mile 41; and Fort Valley Country Store @ appx. mile 61 (another good place to regroup).
If you are interested please contact the ride leader in advance with a cell phone number, I am happy to put together a text group to provide any updates.
Route can be found at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29926246
Directions: 860 Luray Avenue Front Royal, VA 22630
Follow I-66 W to Exit 13 toward VA-79 /VA-55/Linden/Front Royal. Follow VA-55 W to left turn on S. Royal Avenue. Make right turn onto W. Criser Rd. Turn left onto Luray Ave. to Eastham Park on the left.

SPERRYVILLE TO BIG MEADOWS OUT AND BACK
Class AA/3 54 mi at 9:00 AM from Headmasters Pub parking lot in Sperryville VA off of US 522. This is about a 2 hour drive from La Plata MD. Please use a GPS or a web based map program to find your best route. Please park on the right as you enter the parking lot away from the buildings.
Come join me for a ride in the mountains. I don’t expect this ride to make into the AA/3 average due to the 6200 feet of elevation gain. However, I do expect this ride to require an AA level of effort. The route is at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27762230?beta=false and I will bring cue sheets (although you really don’t need them). Be prepared to pay $15.00 per head or use your annual pass to enter the Shenandoah National Park. If people want, we can get something for lunch after the ride in Sperryville. Please email me if you are planning to attend this ride; I would like to know if anyone is going to join me before driving all this way.
