Icicle Metric Newark, DE. 22, 31, and 62 miles from the University of Delaware. Sponsored by the White Clay Bicycle Club. $15 ($12 if received via mail by March 21). The Icicle may be your first chance to stretch your legs on a long ride after the long, cold, winter. Snacks will be available at the start and the traditional well-stocked, indoor food stop will add to the camaraderie of the day. NOTE: You do not have to decide to do the 100 km route until after you've tested out your legs on the early portion of the combined routes. The Greatest Bicycle Tour of the Historic C&O Canal Almost 200 miles on the C&O Canal. No hills, no headwinds, & no cars. Plenty of food, lots of support, ride at your own pace, well organized. This popular tour is an annual fundraising event which benefits the San Mar Children's Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Participants must pay a $30 registration fee and turn in at least $400 in pledges ($350 for those riding for only the weekend). For those exceeding minimum amounts there are prizes awarded for going above and beyond. Your registration fee and pledges provide transportation by charter bus to the start of the C&O Canal, all meals and snacks, free parking for your vehicle throughout the event, rest stops every ten to fifteen miles, camp fees paid for the first two nights or transportation to nearby hotels, hotel on the third night, transport of all gear throughout the event, T-shirt, water bottle, a TGBT patch, and return to your vehicle by charter bus from Georgetown at end of event. |

The Black & Blue Double Century Relay 200 miles from Grayson Highlands State Park, Grayson County, VA, which is near the base of Mount Rogers (5729'), the highest peak in Virginia. The Black & Blue consists of 1 to 8 person teams that rotate through 1 to 8 stages as they cover the 200-mile distance and 21,758' of elevation change. Riders will complete anywhere from 25 miles to 200 miles. The course primarily follows scenic, country roads as it winds its way through North Carolina's High Country to the finish in Asheville, NC. The course features some of the region's most spectacular scenery including the balds of Grayson Highlands State Park, the New River, Toe River, Cane River, and Grandfather Mountain (5964'). |

Covered Bridge Metric Century Lancaster, PA. 15, 31, or 62 miles through Pennsylvania's most famous rural scenery including seven covered bridges (on the 62-mi route). The terrain is rolling with a few hills on the 62-mi ride and flat to moderately rolling on the 31- and 15-mi rides. Registration is $15 if you pre-register on line with active.com on or before July 18, 2008. If you choose to register by mail, the cost is $20, if postmarked by July 18, 2008 and $30 after that. Children 12 and under are free. The fee covers lunch, water stops, sag wagons, cue sheets, road markings, ice cream and a general good time. The Civista Potomac Heritage Bicycle Tour La Plata, MD. 14, 33, 60, 80, and 100 miles through Southern Maryland. All routes, from the casual 14-mile family ride to the challenging 100-mile century route, will take cyclists along the scenic on-road bicycle route of the Potomac Heritage Trail National Scenic Trail. The event is sponsored by the Civista Health Foundation and proceeds will go toward necessary renovations of Civista Hospital's pharmacy, which provides critical services to hundreds of patients each and every day. Cyclists will return to La Plata to the Crossing at Casey Jones, where they will enjoy an after-ride party with food and entertainment. Pre-registration fee of $30 covers rest stops along the route, SAG support, marked routes, cue sheets, and the after-ride party. The first 250 to register also receive a t-shirt and ride souvenirs. Riders are encouraged to pre-register to be assured of getting a t-shirt and other ride souvenirs. Participants can register online at www.active.com or download a registration form. Between the Waters Bike Tour Wachapreague, VA. 25, 40, 60, and 100 miles through interesting historic towns and communities and along back roads to scenic rest stops that overlook the Atlantic seaside and the Chesapeake Bay. This one day bike tour is an ecotourism event and fundraiser for Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore, a non-profit organization serving Northampton and Accomack counties. Online registration or you may download a mail-in registration form. $35 per rider until September 30--$45 after October 1. Children 7-12 yrs. $15 per rider until September 30--$20 after October 1.Children 6 yrs & under free, but require a registration form and signed release form. All riders who register by September 30 will receive a T-shirt. T-shirts for those who register after October 1 will be available on a first come, first served bases and sizes cannot be guaranteed. Moonlight Memorial Ride Washington, DC. 15 mile route for all levels. Gathering at 8:00 pm at Tenley Circle Metro station. See our Nation's Capitol as few have. From the Capitol to the Washington Monument, from the Lincoln Memorial to Haines Point on the banks of the serene rippling nighttime Potomac. Illuminated granite buildings, quiet streets, easy parking, and low traffic will contribute to an experience that will long be remembered. Participants will be given a route sheet and receive limited emergency mechanical support from roving mechanics on bikes, but organizers request that bikes be in working shape before beginning the 15 mile ride. Bikes must be equipped with working lights, and organizers will have some available at wholesale cost. Support provided by Mt Airy Bicycles/College Park Bicycles.
