WESTLAKE HS TO OLLIE'S AND PISGAH STORES. Class CC+-LOW /B(13-14) 36/42 mi. 10:00 AM from Westlake High School. (Hoping the second time of posting this is the charm) This will be my 1st outdoor ride since Dec 1st. Hoping for an overall 13-14 AMS(CC/low B)pace. The route (very low elevation gain)uses the IHRT as a good warmup, with a 1st reststop at Ollies Store mile 14. Will then go past the Pisgah Store then back to Livingston Rd/IHRT. If everyone feels good we can extend the route to the end of the IHRT @ Mattingly Ave and retrace all the way back on the IHRT to Westlake HS. Doing that would make this 42miles vs 36 the RWGPS shows below. Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26888176 Long range forecast shows should be 50+ at the 9:ooam starting time, also shows afternoon showers, so 9am start will hopefully have ride completed by then. I'll have cuesheets. Park on the left side of the school in front of the /Track/Stands.
Dir: 3300 Middletown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20603. From MD 228, go south for two miles on Middletown Road. School is just before Smallwood Drive West. Park by the bleachers on the north side of the school. [map to start]

WAYSON'S CORNER IN SPRINGTIME: QUEEN ANNE BRIDGE, NUTWELL AND THE PINDELLS Class CC 32 mi. 12:30 PM from Wayson Corner Park and Ride. Spring has arrived!! (Oh yes it has -- meteorologists start the new season on March 1, and besides the cedar pollen has been making my eyes itch for weeks now so it sure feels like spring to me.) Let's welcome the new season with a bike ride! The current forecast calls for chilly temps, so we will have an afternoon start to give the sun a chance to warm things up. The route will take us north to some roads we haven't ridden in quite a while, with a stop at the store in Harwood. You can view and download it here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26934085. Ride leader will sweep. Optional post-ride comradery and food at Dunkin' Donuts or Subway. Note: please check the ride updates in case a change in the weather forecast necessitates a change in ride plans.
Dir: From I-95 Exit 11-A take Pennsylvania Avenue (Md 4) 10 miles past Upper Marlboro to Waysons Corner, exit Md 408. Left at the end of exit ramp to Waysons Corner. Bear right at the light and proceed to the park and ride on the right. [5442 Southern Maryland Blvd, Lothian, MD 20711]

DC EAST WEST BOUNDARY STONE LOOP Class CC 40 mi. 11:30 AM from BicycleSPACE 440 K ST NW, Washington, DC 20001. Join me on the BicycleSPACE shop City Explorers ride as I lead it on a DC East Corner to West Corner Boundary Stone loop! That's right, we will visit the East Corner Boundary Stone in Northeast DC and ride to Falls Church in Virginia to visit the West Corner Boundary Stone. These stones date back to 1791-1792 and at one time marked the boundary of Washington, DC. This is a no drop ride at a CC level with some 1,800 feet of elevation. The Ride with GPS route can be viewed here: https://goo.gl/pSGsqt The ride will take us on such paved Trails as the Anacostia Riverwalk, Marvin Gaye, Suitland Parkway, Southwest Wharf Waterfront bike track, Mt Vernon, Four Mile Run, W&OD, and the Custis Trails. Meet 11:15 AM. Wheels roll at 11:30 AM. Water, restrooms, bike pumps at ride start and bikes can be brought into the shop for those thinking they need to bring a lock. Note: For those looking to do the whole ride from beginning to end I would say the ride will be in the 3-4 hour range with time allowed for stop and go riding in the city and stopping along the way for group pictures and restroom breaks. No official plans to stop for food, but we can stop for a quick snack at a convenience store if need be. However, I advise bringing your own riding eats. WEATHER RULES

Unless otherwise stated, rides may be canceled if the temperature is less than 40 degrees or the chance of precipitation is greater than 50% on www.weather.com during the ride. Call the ride leader if in doubt.

Ride Leaders Guidelines

  1. Prepare a cue sheet and/or map (either new or existing club route) and scout the route before the ride. You may use cue sheets in the club's cue sheet library. Other good places to find cue sheets or to create a cue sheet are www.BikeRouteToaster.com, www.RideWithGPS.com, www.Bikely.com, and www.MapMyRide.com.
  2. Submit the ride to the Ride Schedule with the online Ride Submission Form.   Rides submitted will automatically appear on the online schedule. To submit multiples rides, use your browser's "back" button to return to the ride submission form.
  3. If you have a cell phone, include its number on the cue sheet and have your cell phone on during the ride.
  4. Arrive 10-15 minutes before the ride start time.
  5. Have all riders sign a release sign-up form.
  6. Give all riders a cue sheet and/or map.
  7. Welcome the riders and brief them on details of ride stops, problems, pace, etc.
  8. Make sure the riders wear helmets.
  9. "Lead from the rear" or appoint someone to "ride sweep!"
  10. Ride at the advertised pace!
  11. Carry the sign-up sheet with you on the ride so that you have riders' emergency contact information if needed.
  12. After the ride, post your ride report at http://ohbike.memberlodge.org/reports.

Rider Responsibilities

  1. Arrive early to sign-in and be ready to leave on time.
  2. Some starting points do not have restrooms, plan accordingly.
  3. Make sure your bicycle is in proper working order before you arrive.
  4. Carry a spare tube, patch kit, pump, water bottle and snack.
  5. Carry identification and emergency money.
  6. Sign a ride waiver and get a cue sheet and/or map from the ride leader.
  7. Wear a helmet!
  8. Practice safety and obey all traffic laws.
  9. Do not "bike off" more than you can do. Go on rides within your ability, interest and experience level. If in doubt, phone the ride leader.
  10. Riders should maintain the pace as advertised. The rider may ride faster or slower than this pace if s/he knows the route and advises the leader accordingly. In this case the leader will not be responsible for the cyclists safe return or completion of the ride.
  11. Riders should advise the ride leader if the rider will not complete the ride or deviate from the designated route.
  12. Riders should warn nearby cyclists of road debris or, when in the rear, warning leading cyclists of approaching motorists from behind.
  13. Riders should as simple courtesy help out others with mechanical problems. Riders will try to help but there is no obligation to wait for cyclists with major breakdowns.
  14. Riders should use common sense and courtesy.
